Uniform Policy

The following is a brief explanation of some of Carrie Martin Elementary’s policies. Please read the Bossier Parish handbook for further detailed information.

 

CARRIE MARTIN UNIFORM POLICY

 

Girls:

Tops:  only white, red, or light blue, short or long sleeve polo shirts

Bottoms:  khaki or navy: pants, shorts, skorts, skirts, jumpers, or capris—no cargo pants, no cargo shorts, no polo dresses, and no “skinny”/tight fitting bottoms

Belts:  Belts must be worn with bottoms that have belt loops.  They must not display any inappropriate/ offensive wording or pictures.

Outerwear:  ONLY navy coats, jackets, sweaters and current Carrie Martin hoodies may be worn in the classrooms/ buildings.  Non-uniform outerwear is not allowed to be worn inside the building.

Socks:  Socks and footed tights must be solid white, solid black, or solid navy. Leggings are not allowed.  

 

 

Boys:

Tops:  only white, red, or light blue, short or long sleeve polo shirts

Bottoms:  khaki or navy pants/shorts—no cargo pants, no cargo shorts, and no “skinny”/tight fitting bottoms

*Shorts can be no longer than the kneecap.  Pants/shorts must not sag/fit below the hip bone.

Belts:  Belts must be worn with bottoms that have belt loops.  They must not display any inappropriate/ offensive wording or pictures.

Outerwear:  ONLY navy coats, jackets, sweaters and current Carrie Martin hoodies may be worn in the classrooms/ buildings.  Non-uniform outerwear is not allowed to be worn inside the building.

Uniform Rules:

  • Shirts must be tucked in at all times.
  • Shoes must be suitable for P.E. class and recess—no flip-flops, sandals, house shoes, or Crocs.
  • Undershirts—only undershirts or turtle necks of solid colors which are the same color as the uniform shirt being worn.  Solid white may be worn under any uniform shirt.
  • Earrings must be studs or smaller than ½ inch in length.
  • Hair styles and hair color that may cause distractions or disruptions to the school setting are not permitted.
  • Carrie Martin spirit t-shirts can be worn on Fridays only.  These must be the current spirit t-shirts.
  • All shorts, skirts, and skorts must not be shorter than 4” above the kneecap and must fit properly.
  • No Under Armour type shirts are allowed.
  • No caps, stocking caps, sweatbands, visors, bandanas, or doo-rags are allowed.
  • Every student should always be well-groomed. If a uniform piece should tear or become un-sewn, it must be repaired or replaced before being worn again.
  • Backpacks with wheels are not allowed.

 

 

 

Uniform donations are greatly appreciated.

The principal makes the final decision on what is considered proper or improper appearance.
